Charlotte Evans is a London born artist who recently moved to Brooklyn, New York. Her work, with it’s dreamlike color, always start in reality as Evans successfully attempts to paint the feeling born from a vivid memory.
“I use photos and make small drawings, ideas for paintings, but they are only ever a crutch to hang an idea on – I tend not to look at them again until after I start a painting. Unlike photos, memories, like repeatedly retold tales, distort and become exaggerated over time. Colours become more vivid, sounds brighten, smells sweeten. Images and memories combine and new worlds emerge.” -Charlotte Evans
